William Wallace – Legendary Scots Series | Official Renaissance Collector Card
Freedom!
William Wallace is the eternal symbol of Scottish independence — a knight and military commander who rose from relative obscurity to lead Scotland’s resistance against English occupation in the late 13th century, becoming the most celebrated hero in Scottish history.
His stunning victory at the Battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297, where a vastly outnumbered Scottish force routed the English army by exploiting the narrow crossing of the River Forth, stands as one of the great military upsets of the medieval world. Captured through betrayal in 1305, Wallace refused to acknowledge Edward I as his king even under torture, and was executed with a brutality that only deepened his legend. Scotland never forgot him.
