Rob Roy MacGregor – Legendary Scots Series | Official Renaissance Collector Card
Scotland’s Robin Hood
Rob Roy MacGregor was the most celebrated outlaw in Scottish history — a Highland cattle farmer, clan chief, and folk hero whose battles against the powerful Duke of Montrose made him a legend in his own lifetime and Scotland’s answer to Robin Hood.
Born in 1671 in the Trossachs, Rob Roy was a man of enormous physical strength — said to have arms so long he could tie his garters below the knee without bending. When the Duke of Montrose seized his lands and outlawed him after a financial dispute, Rob Roy launched a years-long campaign of raids, escapes, and defiance that captured the imagination of all Scotland. He was captured multiple times and escaped each time with almost supernatural cunning. Pardoned in 1725, he died peacefully in 1734 — a free man and a living legend.
