Long before Scotland's fight for freedom found its most famous legends, Andrew Moray rose in the north as one of its earliest great leaders. A nobleman of Moray and a determined patriot, he helped spark resistance against English rule and joined forces with William Wallace in a cause larger than himself. His story stands at the meeting place of courage, strategy, sacrifice, and the early struggle for Scotland's liberty.
Includes:
- Recovered Record — Chronicles, charters, and battle accounts preserve the memory of Andrew Moray. Medieval records place him at the heart of the northern uprising of 1297 and confirm his leading role in the victory at Stirling Bridge, where Scottish resistance gained new strength
- Historical Account — Son of a noble Scottish family, Moray was captured after the English victory at Dunbar in 1296. Escaping imprisonment, he returned north and raised rebellion. In 1297 he joined forces with William Wallace and together they won the famous Battle of Stirling Bridge against a much larger English army. Moray was badly wounded and likely died soon after
- When the Story is Told — Some of history's greatest figures are not always the most remembered. Moray helped unite resistance, lead with resolve, and secure a turning-point victory at great cost — courage joined with wisdom, and faithfulness in a cause that outlives the man
- Words of Wisdom — "Be of good courage, and let us play the men for our people, and for the cities of our God." — 2 Samuel 10:12
